Frequently Asked Questions

Can all skin tones benefit from color analysis?
What if my hair is artificially colored?
What if I have gray hair?
Can I gift a color analysis?
Do you do color analysis for children?
Can I host a color analysis party at my location?
Does everyone fall into the 12 season system?

Yes, the 12 season system can type all individuals. However, we are all very unique, so some may fall into their season more easily than others. In some cases, an individual may be borderline between two seasons, and this is something I would discuss in detail with the client during their appointment.

What is a sister season?

A sister season is another season that shares the same dominant chromatic characteristic with your season. For example, Bright Winter and Bright Spring are sister seasons because they both share the main characteristic of brightness. Your sister season will have some colors that suit you well.

What is a neutral undertone?

To say a person has a neutral undertone is a bit of a misnomer. Someone with a more neutral undertone will still lean a little warm or a little cool. In these cases, we’d say they have a neutral-warm or neutral-cool undertone. There is no such thing as a fully neutral undertone.

What should I expect during a color analysis?

During a personal color analysis, we dive into discovering the colors that make you shine! We start with a quick chat about your style and preferences, then we use a series of color drapes to see how different shades interact with your skin, eyes, and hair. You’ll see firsthand how some colors enhance your natural glow while others might dull or overpower you. Throughout the process, we refine your best palette, considering undertones, contrast levels, and depth to find the most flattering hues. By the end, you’ll have a personalized guide to help you choose clothing, makeup, and accessories with confidence. The appointment usually lasts about 90 minutes.

What are your credentials?

I completed my training with Mariana Marques of The Outfit Curator in January 2025. My studies included education for both in-person and virtual color analysis.

How should I prepare for my analysis?

There are a few simple things you can do to make sure you get the most accurate results. First off, try to come without any makeup or self tanner on—this helps me see your natural skin tone without any products altering it (makeup wipes are provided if needed). Also, make sure to wait at least a week if you’ve just had a spray tan treatment. If you wear glasses, I will ask you to remove them during the draping as they can cast shadows on your face and make it trickier to determine your best colors.

What method do you use?

I use an expanded 12-season method for color analysis. It is a more detailed way to figure out which colors work best for you, taking into account not just your undertones but also your overall intensity and contrast. It expands on the traditional 4-season system by breaking things down into three sub-seasons within each main category (Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter). This gives a much more personalized approach, so instead of just being a “Summer” or “Winter,” you might find out you’re a “Light Summer” or “Deep Winter.”

Can I bring a friend to watch my analysis?

Of course! Please let me know ahead of time if you’d like to bring a friend to share the experience with you.

Is color analysis only for women?

Color analysis is for everyone, no matter your gender or style! It’s all about finding the hues that bring out your natural beauty and make you feel great. Men can just as easily benefit from knowing which colors suit their skin tone, eyes, and hair. The right colors can give anyone that extra edge in looking polished and feeling confident. It’s not about following trends, but about knowing what truly works for you, and that’s something everyone can enjoy!

Will My season ever change?

The quick answer is no. Your undertone will never change, so your “main” season (Spring, Summer, Winter, Autumn) will always remain the same. However, we do lose intensity in our features as we age, so it’s possible that you may become a softer or lighter version of your current season.
