Frequently Asked Questions
Color analysis works for all skin tones. Regardless of your skin tone, you still have your own unique undertone, chroma, and depth. Everyone has a set of flattering shades, and finding those has nothing to do with how light or dark your skin is. We are happy to provide color analysis services for people of all colors and ethnicities.
If you have color-treated hair, color analysis can still be very effective—we just have to tweak the approach a bit! Natural hair color is a factor in determining your season, but when it’s dyed, your skin undertone and eye color become even more important. We will pull your hair back and have you wear a head covering during portions of the analysis to make sure that we find your natural undertones.
If your dyed hair drastically changes your overall contrast (like going from dark brown to platinum blonde), you might shift into a different palette that complements your new look. The good news? You can always use makeup and clothing colors to balance everything out and make sure you’re glowing no matter what!
Gray hair doesn’t change your undertones, so color analysis works just as well! The key is still looking at your skin undertone (warm, cool, or neutral) and eye color to find the most flattering shades. Some people with gray or silver hair find that cooler tones look slightly better on them now, and this is all factored into the analysis.

Since children’s features are still changing and developing, we suggest not doing an analysis until after 14 years old. However, if you still wish to have your little one analyzed, we are happy to accommodate as long as they are able to sit still for the draping!
Absolutely! I am happy to come to your location and do a group color analysis session. Please contact me directly at [email protected] for more information.
Yes, the 12 season system can type all individuals. However, we are all very unique, so some may fall into their season more easily than others. In some cases, an individual may be borderline between two seasons, and this is something I would discuss in detail with the client during their appointment.
A sister season is another season that shares the same dominant chromatic characteristic with your season. For example, Bright Winter and Bright Spring are sister seasons because they both share the main characteristic of brightness. Your sister season will have some colors that suit you well.
To say a person has a neutral undertone is a bit of a misnomer. Someone with a more neutral undertone will still lean a little warm or a little cool. In these cases, we’d say they have a neutral-warm or neutral-cool undertone. There is no such thing as a fully neutral undertone.

During a personal color analysis, we dive into discovering the colors that make you shine! We start with a quick chat about your style and preferences, then we use a series of color drapes to see how different shades interact with your skin, eyes, and hair. You’ll see firsthand how some colors enhance your natural glow while others might dull or overpower you. Throughout the process, we refine your best palette, considering undertones, contrast levels, and depth to find the most flattering hues. By the end, you’ll have a personalized guide to help you choose clothing, makeup, and accessories with confidence. The appointment usually lasts about 90 minutes.
I completed my training with Mariana Marques of The Outfit Curator in January 2025. My studies included education for both in-person and virtual color analysis.

I currently offer in-person color analysis from my home in Huntsville, AL (off of Zierdt Road near Town Madison). See our Contact page for more information. On-location services are available too – please contact me at [email protected] before booking.
There are a few simple things you can do to make sure you get the most accurate results. First off, try to come without any makeup or self tanner on—this helps me see your natural skin tone without any products altering it (makeup wipes are provided if needed). Also, make sure to wait at least a week if you’ve just had a spray tan treatment. If you wear glasses, I will ask you to remove them during the draping as they can cast shadows on your face and make it trickier to determine your best colors.
I use an expanded 12-season method for color analysis. It is a more detailed way to figure out which colors work best for you, taking into account not just your undertones but also your overall intensity and contrast. It expands on the traditional 4-season system by breaking things down into three sub-seasons within each main category (Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter). This gives a much more personalized approach, so instead of just being a “Summer” or “Winter,” you might find out you’re a “Light Summer” or “Deep Winter.”
Of course! Please let me know ahead of time if you’d like to bring a friend to share the experience with you.
Color analysis is for everyone, no matter your gender or style! It’s all about finding the hues that bring out your natural beauty and make you feel great. Men can just as easily benefit from knowing which colors suit their skin tone, eyes, and hair. The right colors can give anyone that extra edge in looking polished and feeling confident. It’s not about following trends, but about knowing what truly works for you, and that’s something everyone can enjoy!
The quick answer is no. Your undertone will never change, so your “main” season (Spring, Summer, Winter, Autumn) will always remain the same. However, we do lose intensity in our features as we age, so it’s possible that you may become a softer or lighter version of your current season.
